ATIPIC YOUNG: Music Education, Real-World Experiences and an Ecosystem for Young People in the Creative Industries

At the ATIPIC community, we talk about entrepreneurship, initiative and the courage to build. Through the ATIPIC YOUNGpillar, we bring this mission closer to young people who are just starting out, creating opportunities for them to discover people, professions and perspectives that school or social media do not always reveal.

One of the directions we are developing is music education for young people. Together with community members and partners with experience in arts education, management, production, events and the music business, we aim to build a coherent pathway: from a first encounter with music and technology to a responsible understanding of the industry.

Talent can be the starting point. But for it to become a skill, a project or a profession, it takes time, patience, discipline, practice and guidance.

What is ATIPIC YOUNG and why are we investing in this direction?

ATIPIC YOUNG is the community pillar dedicated to young people who are exploring their options, developing their skills and taking their first professional steps. We organize open-access gatherings, authentic conversations, workshops and projects through which high school students, university students and young entrepreneurs can gain exposure to real-world experiences.

We do not focus only on success stories and visible achievements. We also talk about hard work, uncertainty, mistakes, difficult choices and the small steps through which people learn to trust an idea, a team and their own path.

During an ATIPIC YOUNG edition organized at Zbor Hub Iași, discussions around non-formal arts education created a meeting point between organizations and professionals from several areas of the music industry: arts education and artist management through Thymecat Recordings, event organization through The Event Agency, and label and music business experience through Crossworlder Music Ltd.

For us, this is the role of a community: to connect complementary skills and create the foundations for collaborations that can continue well beyond a single event.

Non-formal arts education means more than a lesson

Ramona Cojocaru, founding member of ATIPIC and manager of Thymecat Recordings, consistently emphasizes the quality of non-formal arts education and the moral responsibility of teachers and mentors.

In a creative field, the value of an educational experience cannot be reduced to the price of a single session. What matters is the teaching method, consistency, the ability to understand each young person's needs and the willingness to guide them without making unrealistic promises.

Supporting a young person who is passionate about music does not mean promising them success. It means helping them understand the process: practice, technique, collaboration, feedback, discipline and the time required for an aptitude to develop into a genuine skill.

Through her work in artist management at Thymecat Recordings, Ramona patiently builds this kind of journey around two essential resources: time and patience. Behind a song, a concert or a well-developed artistic identity lies far more than what the audience sees.

From the Romanian Creative Week 2025 workshops to CWR DJ School

Atelier de DJing și producție muzicală pentru tineri, susținut prin ecosistemul ATIPIC YOUNG

ATIPIC supports projects that can transform one-off encounters into educational and professional pathways. One such project is CWR DJ School, developed together with The Event Agency and Thymecat. CWR DJ School, dezvoltat împreună cu The Event Agency și Thymecat.

The idea began to take shape during the DJing and music production workshops organized at Romanian Creative Week 2025. There, young people had the opportunity to interact directly with the equipment, techniques and professionals behind the industry.

A first workshop can spark curiosity. The next step is to provide continuity: practical sessions, guidance, teamwork and access to environments where knowledge can be tested and developed.

Through CWR DJ School and related projects, we aim to build an experience that can include:

  • an introduction to DJing and music production;
  • hands-on experience with equipment and workflows;
  • practical exercises and feedback from professionals;
  • an understanding of behind-the-scenes roles;
  • an introduction to promotion, artist management and music rights;
  • connections with relevant events, organizations and projects.

We do not expect every participant to follow the same path. We want each young person to better understand the options available to them and what each role actually involves.

Music Business: the music industry beyond the stage

The music industry is not just about artists and DJs. Every artistic project is supported by producers, promoters, managers, event organizers, communication specialists, technicians, copyright professionals, distributors and creative entrepreneurs.

Andrei Ungureanu, President of the ATIPIC Entrepreneurial Community Association and founder of Crossworlder Music Ltd, also contributes to this direction through approximately 20 years of experience as a promoter, venue manager, event and festival organizer, artistic project manager and entrepreneur in the music industry.

Relevant experience is not only about success. It also includes attempts, changes of direction, projects that did not go according to plan and lessons that can become valuable to those just starting out. Our goal is to transform this accumulated experience into a practical framework that is easy to understand and useful for young people exploring a career in the music industry, whether they want to be on stage or build something behind it.

It is equally important to talk openly about the side of the industry that social media does not always show. A career in music is built over time through consistency, healthy professional relationships, industry knowledge and taking responsibility for your own project.

Thymecat Music Camp 2026 in Vatra Dornei

„Educație artistică non-formală pentru tineri alături de Thymecat Recordings

A new stage in this ecosystem is the Thymecat Music Camp, taking place from 24–29, 2026, in Vatra Dornei, for young people aged 12 to 19.

Following the experience of a carefully designed camp in Iași, the Vatra Dornei edition continues this interdisciplinary approach, giving participants the opportunity to explore both the artistic side of music and its technical and entrepreneurial dimensions.

The program includes:

  • individual keyboard, electric guitar, bass guitar, drums and vocal lessons;
  • band sessions;
  • music production and DJing;
  • songwriting;
  • Music Business;
  • Creativity in Music – Sound Painting;
  • choir sessions and surprise workshops.

The camp is organized by Thymecat Recordings, a music school and recording studio, in partnership with Clubul Copiilor Vatra Dornei, Crossworlder Music and Asociația Muzicienilor Independenți.

The team of trainers includes Ramona Cojocaru, Emanuel Ungurean, MATEK, Paulina Popa, Daniela Cojocaru, Teodor Macsimov and Andrei Ungureanu, who will contribute to the Music Business component.

We are not simply preparing the next artist. An encounter with microphones, filters, frequencies and audio production can inspire a future music producer. A voice-over workshop can open up an entirely new professional direction. A conversation about contracts and music rights can spark the interest of a future lawyer specializing in the entertainment industry. And playing in a band can develop collaboration, discipline and the confidence to build something together.

What we want to build through the ATIPIC YOUNG ecosystem

We want projects dedicated to young people to become more than isolated initiatives. Step by step, we are building an ecosystem in which participants can move from discovery and experimentation to education, practice, collaboration and a more mature understanding of their professional options.

To support this direction, we bring together:

  • young people interested in exploring the music industry and creative industries;
  • teachers, trainers and mentors;
  • artists, producers and managers;
  • event organizers and cultural venues;
  • companies, organizations and institutions interested in supporting education;
  • professionals willing to share their experience with younger generations.

We believe that good education is about more than simply transferring information. It means creating an environment that is both safe and demanding, where a young person can experiment, make mistakes, ask questions, receive feedback and understand that turning a dream into a real project takes work and consistency.

How you can get involved in ATIPIC YOUNG

ATIPIC will continue to support people and organizations that create meaningful opportunities for young people and bring education closer to real life.

If you represent a school, company, cultural organization or educational project and would like to contribute to the development of the ATIPIC YOUNG pillar, you can propose a collaboration, workshop, mentor or practical experience. If you are a young person looking for direction, follow the ATIPIC events and come meet the people building these initiatives.

Before we can connect people and ideas for success, we need to help young people discover their voice, their direction and the confidence to take the first step.

Connecting people and ideas for success.
